BIO

Raphael Tobar, also known as Genoma, is an experimental low-polygon artist and 3D generalist from Miami, Florida.

He became interested in 3D graphics and rendering in 2010 after being exposed to the growing advancements in computer graphics while living in Los Angeles, California. Programs such as Maya and Zbrush captured his imagination and enjoyed creating animal art with them.

In 2019, Genoma developed an art form called "Meta-Naturalism". Meta-Naturalism is an artistic practice devoted to the metaphorical depiction of physical & biological knowledge, like force, velocity, resistance, and other natural or behavioral phenomena. The first pieces were published as NFTs on Makersplace.

"Meta-Naturalism" is a heuristic term to signify artistic practices that are motivated to "present" or "exhibit" the adequacy of facts in the world, or aesthetically describe states of affairs of how the world is currently understood. Its central objective is to inform and motivate interest in the public through the aesthetic propagation of scientific discourse. As an attitude, there are no stylistic prescriptions but metaphorical commentaries about the actual world.
